Welcome to Goole A.F.C.

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, I would like to welcome you to the start of a new season, and what I hope will be the start of a brand new era at Goole AFC.
The new season brings Goole AFC’s first main sponsor on board. EITI have given us a tremendous boost, not only financially, but helping to re-vamp our match day programme and creating a new official Goole AFC website. A big thank you to all concerned.
I have now taken sole charge of the 1st team after the departure of Jimmy Reid. Even though it has been a testing time, losing ten players from last season’s squad, I now feel I am on the road to producing a squad capable of mounting a serious title challenge.
To help me in the challenge is Mark Smitheringale, new assistant manager and Nigel Danby who is now player / coach as well as club captain.
Andy Foster is still reserve team manager, with Paul Smith as his assistant. I wish them every success in the new season. Andy also has a new role as head coach of Goole AFC bringing a wealth of coaching experience to the club.
I am very pleased to welcome Mike Stannard, Andy Taylor and all the new players who will form the new academy/under 19’s squad.
It has been great to see such quality in young Goole players who will now get the chance to represent their local team.
With our new personnel all committed to Goole AFC the future is very bright, and with Mr Des O’Hearne at the helm, ably supported by vice chairman Eric Lawton, we can only take the club onwards and upwards.
We need your support now to complete the picture. I am a firm believer that a crowd fully committed in the support of their team can only contribute to their success. I want to have an unbeaten home league record starting from today and create an atmosphere at the VPG that other teams will envy and respect.
Finally I would like to thank all those who have worked so hard over the summer to prepare for what I hope will be our most successful season yet.

Paul Marshall
Manager
