Welcome to Goole A.F.C.
This has been the most remarkable pre-season I have been involved in for years. There have been a lot of changes to the squad and every friendly has been vital for me to see as many players and formations as possible. So, the results have been extremely pleasing and very exciting to watch.

We started with a 2-2 draw against Unibond Premier club Frickley Athletic, this was a great result considering we were 2-0 after 20 minutes. It was good to see Steve “Ugga” Davey on the mark with a brace and to see the characters of a lot of the young players.

We then comfortably beat Guisely, another Unibond Premiership club 2-0 with goals from Davey and new signing Graeme Whitehead who did extremely well on his debut for the club.

Tuesday night saw us draw 3-3 with a very experienced Ossett Albion side, which was another brilliant result, especially after they had just beaten Selby Town 7-1 on Saturday. Again showing lots of character coming back from 3-1 down. This time the star of the show was last seasons reserve top scorer, 17 year-old Craig Gorman coming off the bench to grab 2 great goals.

I have seen so much quality coming through from last seasons reserves and also the new under 19`s players that together with our existing players the future is going to
be something special.

So, it has been a remarkable and exhausting pre-season so far, not only for me, but for everyone concerned with Goole AFC. It has been challenging filling the gaps that were left when we lost a lot of players to Unibond clubs and beyond.
